Edith from Lancashire
'Using the Internet to trace long lost cousins and friends, so far I have
treced 3 cousins whom I haven't seen since 1967 and a very close friend whom
I haven't seen since she and her family emigrated in 1961 to Australia.
Having had a heart attack, I realised life can still go on and I get more
enjoyment out of it now. I walk and feed the squirrels in the local park,
I,ve also started caravanning in an old tourer my husband and I bought, I
enjoy the company of my grandchildren and now use a computer with more
confidence.
Joined in with the local community to form a community
association, also providing adult support to children to do things in the
community. Litter clearing, collecting for children in need.
Having more
patience with everything and taking a more laid back attitude to things
Derek from Lancashire
After recently burying his 97 yr old
father and previously nursing his 85 year old mother before she passed away,
Derek, aged 76, only knows how to look after someone. He was feeling down
until in my last 18 months, three family members died, I broke my writing
arm and couldn't drive or do anything. Revived by having someone to care
for, Derek takes me shopping daily, physio 3 times weekly and fetches and
drives me to wherever I need to go. Jokingly he states I'm making him work
harder than before he retired at 65! It just goes to show that in Later
life, you can benefit others. Most certainly, I couldn't do without him.
he's no longer down and I'm sure his helping me has most certainly helped
him!
